Kind of belated, but hope everyone had a good 4th of July holiday! (if you celebrate it). I spent it in Brigantine Beach with Shawn and his family…was a fun time. I miss him though =(

Theres been some crazy heatwaves going on the past week. I think it went up to 103 one day. Ridiculous! I can’t wait for Fall to come. I feel like I did absolutely nothing this weekend, which I guess is true. All I really did yesterday was my laundry. haha. And today I don’t really have anything planned except for working out at some point. Very boring. I should really work on those 10 or so songs that I’ve been writing for like 5 months and haven’t finished. Someday.

I’ve been starting to read a bit more lately since I’m taking the train back from work everyday. I just finished Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs, and I’m planning to start The Girl Who Played With Fire on Monday. The first one was pretty good (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and I saw the movie on Netflix this week. The movie kept pretty close to the book (minus a couple things), so I’d recommend it if you like the book. They’re already remaking a Hollywood-ised version of it. Why do they always have to do that? Its like we’re incapable of watching foreign films or something. They’re doing/did the same thing with “Let The Right One In”, which didn’t have to be remade. Neither did “Death at a Funeral”. *lesigh*

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon. You’d think at my age I wouldn’t have any fear of the dentist anymore…but no, still not looking forward to it at all. haha

I still need to figure out how to get LJ crosspost working. grr.

movin on up

…or, rather, down?

I can’t believe I literally only have 2 days left in my apartment! There’s some things I’ll miss about it…other things, not so much (mainly the guy next door who likes to blast heavy metal at odd times during the day ). I’ll miss not having my own space. I’m already thinking about how I want to decorate my new apartment when I move out (who knows where and when that will be haha). Hopefully I don’t lose my mind at home. I need to look into saving up for a car so I can hang out with friends more and get out more often. I don’t know what kind of car I want, but definitely something very small. This weekend I’m moving out so I’ve been trying to pack little by little all week. All I have left to box up is the kitchen stuff, my clothes, and whatever is in the bathroom. I have a feeling this weekend is going to involve lots of physical labor.

I have to start taking pubic transit next week to get to work. Ughh. I’ll miss walking, even though it was uncomfortable when it was hot/cold, at least I was able to control the time I got in and not have to depend on someone else lol. I’m going to have to take the train with my mom Mon-Wed because my Septa pass doesn’t start till July and its easier for my mom to just buy train tickets. Unfortunately, she leaves for work really early and I’ll probably be at work wayy earlier than I have to be. I can’t leave later cause the train station is too far away to walk haha. After Wednesday, I’m going to try taking the bus to 69th street and then taking the subway to city hall (which is basically where my office building is). I’ll be able to leave later, so hopefully that will work out. I really hate buses though. From my experience, they’re pretty unreliable. Though maybe suburb buses are better than city buses…I don’t know. haha. Then I’ll just take the train back with my mom since she leaves around the same time I do.

Shawn is coming up to Philly next Thursday! Very excited! I took next Friday off. We’re going to his family’s beach house for the weekend and he’s heading back to Charlotte on Mon, so its not very long but at least I’ll get to see him.

Still having issues with LJ crosspost! (anyone else having problems?) It keeps telling me “invalid password” when I try to post. grrr. Also, still looking for a few more hostees! Email me if you’re interested!

EDIT: Apparently WordTwit (the plugin I use to post new blog post links to Twitter) isn’t working either. What the eff? I feel like this new version of WordPress messed everything up haha

Too tired to think of a good title

Hey guys. First off, Adorability has a new hostee, Sara, so please visit her blog! Shes awesome and she actually used to be my host when I first started my site

So I ordered a new bathing suit last week (its this one in black) because Delia’s was having a free shipping sale. Hopefully it fits well. Its always a risk buying something online without trying it on lol

Did anyone see the new Lady Gaga vid for Alejandro? It isn’t bad, but not really what I was envisioning for the song haha. I always pictured like summer and beaches for that song (or something along the lines of what she did for the “Eh Eh Eh” video). I think I liked her older videos a lot more than her last couple ones. haha. They’re a bit too cinematic for me.

I called Comcast today to cancel my internet for the end of the month. It took longer to wait for an actual person to get on the line and all of 2 minutes to actually cancel it. I’m going to attempt to set up wireless on our network at home, but if its anything like what I had to go through to set it up here (aka an hour on the phone with customer service), then its going to be a major pain in the arse.

I’m having an issue with LJ crosspost. It used to work, then it didn’t, then it did again, and now I’m getting a “101: Invalid Passoword” error. Guess I’m going to have to manually crosspost? ugh.

Don’t have much else to say. Really tired.

memorial day

Are you supposed to say “Happy Memorial Day”? Sounds kind of strange. Well, for those who are celebrating…happy barbecuing I guess! lol

We’re having a little barbeque for dinner tonight. Almost had to convince the parents to have one. I guess they’re not that into traditional things. haha.

I jogged twice this weekend on the treadmill. I hadn’t done that in a really long time (I hadn’t even worked out at all in a couple weeks)…so my legs are killing me now. ouch!

I’m pretty sure the wireless network at my apt is blocking my website’s server or something, because I can access it from work and from home. O well…I only have 1 more month so its not really that big of a deal. I’ll probably email myself blog entries at work to add when I’m there haha

O yea, I’m on the lookout for hostees! (since I lost a bunch and I only have a couple now). So if anyone is interested, please email me!

site update

I was able to import all my old posts and pages! I had no idea that WordPress could do that. I was, at first, taking this really roundabout way with trying to import the database which didn’t work.

The one problem I’m having so far is that I can’t access this website, my CPanel, or FTP on my laptop, only on my work computer. I also tried my boyfriend’s computer which didn’t work either…but he was able to view my site on his laptop in Charlotte. My host said that its probably something to do with the DNS changes not registering on my network yet or something. Hope it works soon because thats where all my stuff is that I have to upload haha

EDIT: Wow! I was able to basically transfer everything from work (by logging on both FTPs at once) and it actually worked. That was much easier than I thought it would be…I was expecting a huge hassle lol. Right now literally the only thing I have to work on is the comment section cause its a little off but thats no biggie. I was even able to get my portfolio back up with only a click haha. If you see any errors around let me know. I was trying to do the permalinks so they would be pretty without the numbers…but when I tried it, my theme was all messed up when I went to those pages/posts (the pictures would not show). Any suggestions?

So for some reason I couldn’t import my old database and I was getting a bunch of errors, so I just re-installed wordpress. Guess its time to start fresh?

Need to basically copy everything over like themes plugins etc…will do that tonight, and hopefully it isn’t a major disaster. I can’t imagine it being pretty though! haha

blast from the past

So I spent most of today cleaning out the desk in my room at home. It was pretty much stuffed to the brim with crap…journals, magazines, papers, books, etc. Why I subscribed to all Teen, Teen People, and Seventeen magazines, I’ll never know. haha. But I started to read through all of my old diaries. There were 4 of them starting from age 11 and going until age 14 or so. Its so strange to read what I wrote back then and to see the kind of stuff that occupied my mind. I was such an odd kid…very naive and definitely more of a loner than I thought I was. I had no real friends except for a girl who lived across the street named Nicole. We were really close friends until she moved away…and I wrote a lot about her and how I missed her. I also wrote about how I was picked on in grade school. Thinking about that always makes me bitter, but reading about it from a first-hand account (from myself) is even worse haha. Looking back I was probably depressed, or at least I was at times. I stopped writing in the last journal a little after I started high school…probably because I actually made some good friends and started being happy. At any rate, its nice to have written accounts of these kinds of things because, while I remember some of the things I was thinking during that time, theres a lot of little things that I had forgotten about.

Anyway…so I ended up throwing out a lot of old stuff that was filling up the desk space like magazines, pens and pencils, doodles, and X-Files fan-fiction (hey…don’t judge! haha) The trashbag was so heavy that I had to triple bag it because the bottom was tearing, which also could be attributed to the fact that my dad gets really cheap garbage bags All that ended up being left were my photo albums, diaries, lyric journals, and a portfolio. Inside the portfolio I put a bunch of random papers like old poems and letters from Nicole that I didn’t want to throw out. Also, if any former “HG” band members are reading this, I found typed song lyrics. And they cracked me up.

Now that thats done I need to work on cleaning out my nightstand, bookshelf, and dresser drawers. Those shouldn’t be too hard though…mostly just toys and old clothes and junk. Oh yea and I’m re-painting my room! (or rather, my dad is). I’ve decided on a light pink with a dark red/pink accent wall. I’m hoping it’ll turn out nicely since the colors match my rug.

Tomorrow starts another week…weekends always seem so short! We took my mom out for mother’s day tonight to an italian restaurant. I had some penne puttanesca and a cannoli. Both were delish. Well I’m off to bed…when did it get to be 11?…

to kin or not to kin

So I fell asleep today around 6:30pm (by accident). When I woke up at 7:23pm I was wayy disoriented and convinced it was Friday morning. I figured I forgot to set my alarm and also forgot to shower since my hair was all ucky. Eventually (after running around my room for a few minutes all frantically trying to “get ready for work”) I realized it was in fact Thursday evening. LOL

Remember how I wanted to get the Microsoft Kin? Well the pricing for it just came out online (I think today is the first day its available at verizon online) and I don’t know…kinda more expensive than I thought it would be. You need to get the $30 smartphone data plan (the phone itself is $99, $50 for the little one)…but its not actually a “smartphone” so I don’t know why they wouldn’t have had a cheaper data plan. I really do like the phone from what I’ve seen though…especially the aspect of storing everything automatically online like voicemails, texts, pictures etc. Right now its either between that and a Palm Pre Plus (which is a smartphone and actually cheaper than the Kin…). We’ll see.

So I’ve started using the Fresh Farmacy cleanser from Lush to see if that works on my acne. I got a sample of it last weekend. I love it! My skin is all cleared up, plus it has calamine in it so it cleared up the red blotches on my skin as well (which was an added bonus). I still have to see if it works as far as keeping my acne at bay (which other cleaners seemed to have failed at lol) so after a couple more weeks I’ll do a full review on it on the beauty blog.

I’ve been editing my portfolio website off and on this week…it still isn’t finished yet. But one thing I noticed is that all of a sudden the url doesn’t work unless you have “www” in front of it, whereas before you could have just typed it in without it and it would’ve taken you there anyway. Anyone have any idea why that is? haha. I didn’t really change anything with the domain settings. hmm.

EDIT: I’ve finally finished the portfolio re-design. Check it out! Also, the whole www problem seems to have corrected itself…weird.

ucky face and fire alarms

I used to never really get acne, then all of a sudden (since around 4-6 months ago)…bam! Its driving me nuts because I didn’t really change anything in my skincare routine or change any medicines I was taking or change anything really. I’ll just get these huge patches of acne on my forehead (where basically my entire forehead is covered) but nowhere else really. Then they’ll eventually go away for a few days and it’ll be perfectly clear…but then after that few days passes they come back again. Very annoying. I’m sitting here with my Lush mask on….hoping that will help at least a little bit. I’ll try some other things and if its still crazy like this in a couple months I’ll think about seeing a dermatologist.

In other news, the fire alarm in my building went off for like an hour or so (maybe less…I can’t remember) tonight. I didn’t leave cause they’re always false alarms. I’ll probably end up dying in a fire one day because of it haha. But I looked out my window and saw a fire trunk leaving…so I figured if its leaving it can’t be too bad. I really hate alarms though…of any sort. SO much. Its definitely a big pet peeve of mine. I’m pretty sure my alarm clock goes for maybe two beeps at the most before I shut it up haha

Not much else going on. I really really need to get my hair cut at some point this week. Its getting ridiculously long…which I don’t really mind, but its moreso my bangs that bother me. I don’t like them to be long and they just look awful now. All my layers have grown out too so my hair is looking kinda flat.

EDIT: I fixed the smilies issue! Just had to add something to the footer…took like 2 seconds haha.

EDIT2: I now have marshmallow emoticons! rejoice!
