Helloo friends…Sorry for being a terrible blogger!
I’ve been pretty busy lately. Been getting a lot of business at Adorability Designs so that’s been keeping me on my toes. I’ve also been taking the Codagogy JQuery/Javascript course, which is a bit challenging as I have no previous experience with Javascript, but I’m really excited about what I’ve learned so far!
I’ve been thinking about the future of this site (because its a hell of a lot better than thinking about my own future woo!). While I love the name Adorability Designs, I’ve been wanting a new name for this blog to separate itself from my design site. Something that actually has to do with my name. I have no idea what yet. Obviously, it would include “Mel” or some variation somewhere in it. I would register adorabilitydesigns.com for my design site so I wouldn’t have it on the subdomain anymore. Of course that would involve registering yet another domain name (bringing my total to 4, which is kind of expensive). Something’s gotta go…but not sure what yet. Maybe I’ll just get rid of AdoraBeauty.net and combine it with my main blog like it used to be…just make like one big blog of everything. Who knows!
Food-wise, I’m trying a couple new recipes this week. Its rare that I change up my breakfast routine from the usual, totally-not-filling bowl of cereal, but I’ve been intrigued by this overnight refrigerated oatmeal I keep seeing on Pinterest, so I decided to give it a try. I tried the Blueberry Maple flavor and the Peach flavor. I’m not a big oatmeal person (something about the texture just doesn’t do it for me), but I did enjoy these! Especially the Blueberry Maple. I like that you can put them together the night before and just grab and go in the morning. It also ensures that I get a good amount of protein, fiber, fruit etc in the morning and chia seeds are really good for you as well. I was surprised to find that I wasn’t hungry until around 11:30AM today when I’m usually starving around 10:30AM, so I may stick to the oatmeal. I also tried out this Sausage and Kale soup recipe for lunch. Much more yummy than I was expecting and super easy too!
Oh yea, we went to see the new Star Trek movie at the IMAX on Friday…it was great! So was the Dr. Who finale.
Next weekend will be a longer weekend cause of Memorial Day…looking forward to a day off

Only took like 2 months, right? haha. Wanted to try something a bit different and more simple for this theme. Abandoned the usual hot pink in favor of some more neutral/warm colors. Also figured out how to set the sidebar titles to different colors. Let me know what you think!
Finally got my hair cut on Friday, and also dyed it yesterday. My grays were getting reallllly bad. It turned out really nice, though. I love it! I’d highly recommend Snip Salon if you live in the area.
On Saturday, we went to check out the flea market that was going on near us. It was huge, but so difficult to walk around cause of the narrow sidewalks and tons of people, so I didn’t end up actually getting anything. It was sunny out though, so just walking around was nice. Went to dinner at the London Grill afterwards which was good. That’s about all I did this weekend.
Update on the washing machine…I may not have broken it after all. Well, I’ve run like 3 loads since last week and none of them caused it to leak sooo, I’m guessing everythings a-ok.
Update on the basil…its sprouted but that’s it so far. There were actually two little sprouts because I think I may have dropped a seed somewhere towards the edge of the little pot. I pulled that one out because I figured just having the one in the center would be best for growing. Kinda sucks cause the other one seemed to actually be growing better lol.
Signed up for a new Codagogy course on Javascript that starts next week! Really excited cause I’ve always wanted to learn Javascript.

I wrote a draft for a post last week and never posted it, but I thought definitely thought I did haha. It wasn’t too exciting anyway.
I can’t believe it going to be May tomorrow already. Time just won’t stop flying! The weather seems to finally be getting nicer. I was outside for a little bit on Sunday attempting to sweep our patio area. Its a fairly large patio and its covered in leaves and trash and all kinds of stuff. Was able to sweep most of it up, but there’s these little white flower petals (at least I think that’s what they are), that just constantly fall so its pointless to try and sweep them haha. My allergies were kicking up like crazy though. I think my basil plant may have started sprouting, but I’m afraid its not getting enough warmth. Its in basically the only sunny spot on our windowsill, but inside the condo is so cold all the time. Hopefully it’ll warm up a little bit inside.
I’ve been hanging out a lot in the second bedroom, which I’ve kind of turned into an actual bedroom I guess. I got a foam mattress pad for the futon, which is pretty comfy but I really wish I had looked at the density before I bought it. It sinks in a little too much so you can kind of feel the metal bar part of the futon a little bit. Not a huge deal though. I got a super cheap comforter set on Amazon for like $25 haha. It looks pretty nice…not incredibly soft or anything but you get what you pay for I guess. Its brown and blue so it matches the pictures that are hanging up perfectly. I also finally figured out how to get good TV reception in there. Since the room is downstairs (technically a basement level), the reception was always pretty bad. All I had to do was mount the antenna up on the wall with some screws and now the reception is a lot more clear.
I think I may have inadvertently broken our washing machine yesterday. Well…not “broken” I guess. It still works but its leaking out a little bit of water with every laundry load. I tried to wash the comforter which I had to kind of cram into it. I think it was just too heavy for it. When the cycle was done, there was water everywhere and kind of a strange slightly burning smell. I ran 2 more small loads after that one, and the smell was gone and there was still water (though much, much less). Ugh!
I’ve been trying out some new recipes lately. I’ve been making these Asian Chicken Salad Pitas (posted by Santana over at She is Santana!). They’re super yummy but the best part is they actually keep me full for awhile, which is the main problem I have with healthier lunch options. I’m also trying this Crock Pot Picante Chicken and Black Bean Soup from Skinnytaste this week. Our larger crock pot that I thought was broken miraculously works now (no idea why), so I took advantage of that by making a large pot of soup and freezing some of it. I’m super lazy so I love meals that I can just grab before I leave. I made homemade pizza this weekend, which I hadn’t done in a while…since before we moved I think. It turned out pretty good but I think there was too much dough and too much sauce as well. I’ll have to cut those down a little bit next time I make it.

Hello all,
Thank you for the kind words in my last entry. Its been a week since that entry and I feel like I’m doing better now, and hopefully I don’t have another like emotional explosion anytime soon lol. I also have some pretty awesome friends that I got to see recently <3
On Saturday, a couple friends and I went to Public House for some appetizers (mmm nachos) and drinks, and this Tuesday I got together with my friend Stef for some burgers and yummy gelato! Shawn and I got together for lunch with his mom on Monday. It wasn't too awkward or anything (of course she doesn't know we're not together anymore), but she did ask what we were doing for vacation and I was just kinda like uhhhhh. haha.
This Sunday my parents, Shawn, and I are going out to brunch since they couldn't see me for my birthday last weekend. They also, obviously, don't know anything so I'm hoping they don't bring up the cruise at all because that would be difficult since its something I was looking forward to a lot. Should still be nice though.
I'm going to order a mattress pad next week so I'm hoping that will fit on the futon alright. The futon is slightly under a "Full" size bed width by like 5 inches I think, but it should still be okay (maybe). I'm having a difficult time trying to find an inexpensive chocolate brown bedspread that will look nice and doesn't come with like 15 throw pillows. haha.
Looking forward to starting to grow trying to grow basil again this summer. I ordered the new Birchbox Home box (since I loved the last one so much) which includes a little mini basil growing kit. I wish we got more sunlight in the condo…there’s barely any =/ Even outside, there’s not a lot of sunlight. I’m scared to leave the basil outside though because of squirrels and birds and all.

…and I’ll cry if I want to.
Yes, today I am 26. I wasn’t really excited about turning 26 to begin with, but this birthday has ended up being much worse than I could have anticipated.
Shawn and I have been broken up since Saturday, and needless to say I’m not handling it well. I don’t know at this point whether its permanent or not, but all I’ve been doing for the past 5 days is crying when I get home. Yesterday I was actually okay for most of the day, but then I fell apart again after dinner. I’m not very good with handling emotions or situations like this. I can’t even distract myself with anything because I’m literally not interested in anything. If anyone has any movie or TV show suggestions send them my way, because I think video is the only thing working to distract me but I’m running out of stuff to watch lol.
I don’t even know how long I’ll be staying in the condo. Until the summer I guess. It sucks because I feel like I put so much effort and thought (not to mention money) into the condo with helping to pick it out and decorating it and making it feel like home. And it does feel like home and I love being here. My dad put a lot of work into it too with painting and putting together furniture…I just feel terrible. I mean I’m not going to be moving immediately or anything (there’s another bedroom), but it just doesn’t feel like my home anymore, it feels like his. Well I guess it technically is since he owns it.
Will also have to cancel that cruise I booked that I mentioned in my last entry…was really excited about that too. Since its so far off, hopefully I get my deposit back but who knows.
Sorry this entry is such a downer. I just wish my life didn’t feel like it were falling apart. Maybe this won’t be permanent, but if it is I need to get over it and figure out how to handle things and find things that will make me happy again. *le sigh* If only my happiness weren’t contingent on another person.
Well at least I have a good excuse to post my favorite cat…

Hello all! Can’t believe its April already…but I feel like I say that every month. It sure doesn’t feel like Spring, though. Very chilly out today. Honestly I don’t mind too much considering I’m dreading summer (uck! heat!), but it would be nice to have some Spring weather soon.
Cruise: So we finally booked a cruise for vacation! Super excited about that. Its far off though (late October) but hopefully the time will go by quickly (another reason I would like to skip over the whole Summer thing, please). The cruise ship leaves from New York and stops at Orlando, FL for a day (hello, Disney World!) and then spends a couple days at the Bahamas. The rest of the time is spent at sea (4 days I think). The ship is brand new and has some nice amenities and entertainment options so hopefully it’ll be fun
Birthday: My birthday is next week…but eh. I don’t want to be 26 already, but I guess that’s the way it is. Not quite sure what I’m doing for it. I’m trying to get some friends together on the 13th but I have a feeling that’ll fall through…I would be happy if like at least a couple people made it, though =p.
Doctor: I have a doctor’s appointment today with a new doctor I found in the area. I can’t even remember the last time I went to the doctor, let alone had a physical/well visit. Hopefully I like the doctor. Not completely sure about their office staff, though. I originally had an appointment scheduled for February (which I scheduled in December) but when I called to confirm the week of, they had me down for a completely different date, time, and doctor, which would have been fine but the time they had me for was 2 in the afternoon and I kind of have a job. So I had to reschedule for April. I’m hoping that was just a one-off miscommunication though and not the norm.
Office: We’re moving our office from one floor to another at the end of the week, so it’ll probably be a bit chaotic for a couple days and especially next week. But I’m looking forward to seeing what my new work area will look like. Not that I don’t like the setup I have now, but I’m hoping its at least a little more closed off.
TV Shows: Some of my fav shows premiered this week. Game of Thrones was awesome. I don’t get HBO (not even cable), so I streamed it off a website of…questionable legality. haha. I was home for Easter so luckily I was able to watch the Dr. Who premiere since they get BBC America. A lot of people loved the ep but I don’t know. Love the characters and their interactions, but I feel like the actual plot was pretty weak and not that interesting. It wasn’t even a bad ep, but the plot seemed more suited for one of the mid-season filler episodes, not like a premiere. I caught up on The Walking Dead finale last night. booo sadness.
Codagogy: I’ve been taking a few courses with Codagogy recently. Just finished up a CSS:Layouts/Positioning course which was super helpful in a few areas I was clueless with. Also just started a new course in SEO. Unlike the other 3 courses I’ve taken with them (HTML and CSS), I have like barely any knowledge of anything related to SEO, so hopefully I learn a thing or two
If anyone out there is interested in taking some courses with them (I’d highly recommend it if you’re interested in web design or development!), here is my referral link which will give you half off the first course.
I think that’s all the random pieces of my life right now…maybe I’ll actually remember to post more often (haha no). I am working on a new design for this blog, though…if I can ever decide on a color scheme.
