Happy July!

Bah work is kind of hectic today.

I can’t believe its July already! I can’t wait till the 4th this weekend. We’re going to watch the fireworks outside our building =) I’m also gonna try and see what other activities are going on in the city that day.

I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow too which is exciting. I’m still not sure exactly what I want done, but I may go shorter than usual. Its too hot outside for long hair lol

In even more exciting news, I will finally be getting a new laptop!! It will be a Sony Vaio NS (in pink of course), which is the laptop that I most wanted next to getting an Apple which was too expensive. It might take a really long since I don’t have an external hard drive…I’m not really sure what I’m gonna do haha. I guess go back and forth with my little flash drive. meh. I also ordered a new mouse since the one I have now looks like its circa 1998. haha. I should be getting it sometime late next week…so excited!

Still unable to find a job (or even an interview) *lesigh* But I have been working on my boyfriend’s website which is coming along very nicely. :)

ETA: I just won the Sephora Lashstash Mascara Deluxe Sampler from BellaSugar.com!! Although I’m not huge into mascara I would love to try all of these and its awesome that I actually won something (I’m one of those unlucky people who never does haha). I’d also be willing to give some away if anyone who knows me is interested :wink:

mindless babbles

I’m currently reading the back of a Deer Park water bottle. Its informing me that soda has 10tsp of sugar and water has no sugar, so therefore I should drink water. I don’t know why I find that weird advertising…it seems obvious. haha

Anywho…nothing new as usual. I sometimes wonder if I actually want there to be anything new. The thought of getting a job makes me both happy and nervous, but moreso nervous…and thats probably not good. I’m pretty sure my nervousness is hindering my searching. I don’t know why I’m always so anxious. Maybe I have some sort of anxiety problem. I’m only anxious about certain things though, mainly my being put in a situation where I don’t know what I’m doing. Its not necessarily people. I’ve found that I’ve become less shy of people over the years and am (for the most part) completely comfortable in social gatherings (even if I rarely speak). Its just…when I have to work for people or meet with people I don’t know in a serious setting, I feel like I’m never doing anything right. Interviews are the death of me. I haven’t even been getting any at all lately. Most of me is like “yay no reasons to be scared today!” and the other part is like “you need a job…soon!”. Its all very confusing. :(

In other Myspace-related news…(wait, what?), I’ve been somewhat revamping my Music Myspace. I decided to get rid of my personal account due to a vast amount of creepy dudes messaging me, even though it was a private profile anyhow. I guess its one less thing for employers to look at, right? (although the rant above about hating interviews doesn’t exactly help that). I haven’t added any new songs to the player (cause I haven’t written anything in over a year I think), but I have grouped some miscellaneous tunes I’ve had from various years into another EP called “Patchwork”, so now I can start of fresh when I decide to write new stuff. I really need to start picking back up on that soon, its a hobby I’ve kind of abandoned. And I have so much to write about now (no, not really.) :p I’m also going to work on revamping my actual music page, because the orange and purple theme is kind of starting to irk me all of a sudden. I still need to redo my portfolio and this blog theme as well. Where is all my time going again? o yea…twitter heh

I’ve been buying a lot online lately, which I promised myself I wouldn’t do. But in the spirit of Rebecca Bloomwood, I have justifications for all of my purchases. Two were from Etsy. I got a sugar scrub that was on sale for only $5.50. I’ve been looking for one for awhile but most were too expensive until I found this sale. The scent is also a dupe of Lush’s “sex bomb” bath bomb, which I’ve actually never smelled but if its a Lush smell it must be nice. The next thing I got was a headband. I’ve been scouring the internet for a specific headband (stretchy with 1 or 2 little black flower things) and was unable to find one in most of the larger shops. I did find one in Anthropologie for $18 which was way too pricey for such a small item. I turned to Etsy, and finally (after searching through pages of results to “flower headband”) found the perfect one I was looking for for $5. So of course I had to get that. The last thing I got was today from Ebay, which I’m wondering if I should have gotten but I’m sure it will be useful. I flat ironed my hair perfectly when I left this morning, only to find that it had poofed out like whoa by the time I got to work cause of the humidity. So I went searching for a little mini flat iron that I could carry in my purse and use whenever I needed to touch up. I found an adorable pink one that costs $28 (plus shipping) and was about to complete the order when I decided that I could probably find a better deal elsewhere, and that I did. I was able to find one for $19 with free shipping on Ebay (although not pink). Win. And today I will be shopping again too. haha. Though all I am going to get is a replacement Body Butter from Sephora because I’m completely out and I also have a gift card. I also have a 40% off coupon from Border’s thats only good for this weekend, so I’m gonna see if theres any books that are worth getting.

I haven’t been making any Youtube videos as of late unfortunately. I’ve either been too busy with housework or too lazy (moreso the latter), but I promise I will try to do a couple of reviews in the near future. I still have a lovely candle to review from Candles by Victoria…I’ve been meaning to make a video review of it for awhile. installation woes

Just upgraded last night to Wordpress 2.8. As long as I can remember, I’ve never had an issue updating Wordpress versions. I am usually never able to do it through the automatic update thing cause it just…doesn’t work. So I do it manually. After upgrading, I noticed my Dashboard was funky…none of the drop-down menus worked and the right sidebar was missing completely. O_O I re-uploaded all of the files but still the same problem. I had to Google search for a solution, which I eventually found on the Wordpress forum. I had to add 2 lines to my .htaccess file (which I have never even touched before and was a bit apprehensive to) which apparently forced php5. I’ve discovered that my hosting service, 1and1.com, doesn’t have PHP5 set as the default which causes all sorts of problems. I’ve been wanting to switch hosting companies for some time so maybe this is the final straw? haha. Needless to say, adding the two lines worked and my Dashboard appears to be functioning normally now. However, some other things are fishy…like for a few of my posts (specifically the “vlog” ones for some reason), it says “comments closed” when I have never closed them. When I go to check if they are closed, they are listed as being open. Confused! O well. My smilies also got overwritten with the ugly default ones…guess I’ll have to do something about that now while I have time. Thanks Crystal for suggesting the Smilies-Themer plugin! Love it! :lol:

In other news, …well there isn’t really any other news. haha. In the office (thank goodness its Friday!) and I have one more week until my boss returns from vacation. Very bored…but I guess thats better than the alternative. Going to lunch today with my mom (and possibly dinner with the bf) so that should be nice.

Operation do-not-bite-nails is going well! haha. Its been almost two weeks :p I’ve discovered that the reason my nail polish always went on so sloppy before was because my nails were so short…longer nails makes for neater polish!

happy june

Hey guys just wanted to post an update. On what exactly I am updating you on I’m not really sure though. haha. Nothing really exciting has been happening. I’ve been applying to jobs a lot but no call backs (except from shady places that I never applied to in the first place lol). I’m going to try to start looking for a part time job in the city soon. Don’t really want to cause I can’t stand the general public but I don’t have a choice. haha

I’m also trying to learn Dreamweaver CS4…and by trying I mean failing miserably. Its so confusing to me and I can’t seem to do such simple basic things that I could do in oldschool Frontpage in like 5 seconds. Can anyone help me?? :confused: lol I do have a book but I’m not the best at learning from reading a book. I will try to give it another go though. ETA: Fooled around with it all day today and actually made a page! crazy.

I really need to start investing in a new laptop. It sucks having one that I can’t carry around anywhere. I really want a Sony Vaio, but any other recommendations you guys have?

This weekend is Maureen’s grad party which is exciting so I’ll be going home for that. And the 27th is my grad party! (don’t forget!) :razz:

As far as site updates go, I’ve added a little YouTube embed thingmabob down their on the sidebar (which was a bitch and a half to install btw. It kept making the header below it all funky so I had to like create a blank header tag to put in between the two.) Also added a new review to the beauty blog. Please follow me on Twitter cause I post there a lot more and you’ll also be able to know when I post something new to the beauty blog!

I’m trying to grow out my nails (aka not bite them!) and I’m doing rather okay so far. Its been since Sunday and I have yet to touch them…thats good for me. hahaha. Hopefully I make it through the week! Though I find it really hard to type on my laptop (especially the keys that are missing) with long-er nails. bleh

Sorry if I haven’t been visiting all of your blogs and such…I keep forgetting the ones that don’t have RSS. If you don’t have RSS, I’d highly suggest getting it cause it makes blogs so much easier to read :)

Yo!

I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend :) I had a four day weekend since I don’t work today (Tuesday).

Just wanted to mention a little change with the site and let you know of a couple new videos that I’ve done. If you look at the top where the nav is you’ll see that theres a new section called “Beauty”. Its a separate blog where I’ll be posting all my beauty-related stuff (reviews, hauls…) and other stuff like polls etc, as to not get it mixed up with content on this blog. college student please?

I don’t even want to be a kid again, can I just be like…a college student? forever? The freedom of not living at home and doing whatever you want plus the freedom of not having to support yourself or find a job. It really is the best possible deal you can get. I totally want it back *slump* :sad:

Work @ Temple has been rather busy with phone calls. I don’t understand some of these questions I get…are people that stupid? lol. “Do Summer courses count towards my GPA?” Um, yes they are COURSES. “Where is my class?” Maybe you should already have that information? Then there was the girl that called today and went on about the fact that there’s too many files for her online course and that the professor didn’t organize them enough and she doesn’t know what to do. Somehow I’m supposed to know all about this course and what to do. haha. Then there are the people that want to be taken off our “mailing list”. I don’t know what mailing list this is…and when I ask my boss she just says to tell them yes. So thats what I tell them, and they’re probably still on our mailing list. haha

I would really like to travel somewhere…anywhere. I feel like I haven’t been on an actual vacation/getaway in FOREVER.

I got my order of business cards. They’re pretty cute (though the paper is crappy-ish…but they’re free so I can’t expect much). I might scan one onto my portfolio site. The only thing is I put “Web Designer” on them because if I didn’t put a title it would look silly with the design I chose. I don’t feel like I’m actually a web designer though…I feel like there’s so much more I should know to claim that title. Should have put in “Web Designer wannabe n00b”

I hate business kids. :mad:

Graduation

May 15th, 2009


So I am officially a Temple alum!

Graduation went pretty well. The rain held off until nighttime so that made me very happy. The Communications School, however, pretty much sucks with communication-related things. They kept playing the wrong music and not loudly enough at all. And there wasn’t even a hat toss and we didn’t get diploma holders. O well. haha. Afterwards my parents, shawn, and I went out to dinner at a restaurant near my house. They surprised me with a cute Temple-themed graduation cake :) I’m going to upload some pictures which will be on my Flickr (on the sidebar at left).

The sucky part is that it felt like a Friday yesterday, but it wasn’t :( so I’m in work today for the whole day. Luckily I’m not too tired. I have to help people record stuff, though, and I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing. yay!

I also got my final grades back yesterday. A’s in every class! I was a little worried about that because there were a couple classes I was bordering on an A with…but I managed to pull through. My cumulative GPA (all 4 years) ended up being 3.8…which is a nice even number to end with. Though my internship grade hasn’t been entered in the system yet but it should end up being the same I think.

Goals for the summer:
- find a job
- learn Dreamweaver
- record more vlogs and review videos
- find a job
- work on shawn’s website
- redo my portfolio site
- find a job

ugh.
