If you asked me a year ago, I’d say my favorite TV show was CSI, which has been my fav for roughly 8 years. haha. Lately, though, I’ve been more into Glee…so its hard to pick between the two, but I think I’ll chose CSI since its my old faithful. I loved the show a lot more, though, before they got rid of like half the characters (including two of my favorites, Grissom and Sara). Although it looks like Sara is going to be back for the next season (which I believe is the 11th…crazy). Lawrence Fishbourne’s character is also growing on me a bit.

I’m sure most of you already watch Glee, so what more can I say about it? Its funny and musical. A bit worried its jumping the shark already though with all the random guest stars they keep featuring. (Although CSI hasn’t done much better, considering Justin Bieber is going to be in a new ep O_O) Some of them are really fitting and awesome, but I feel like almost every episode I’ve heard about in the upcoming season is based around some guest star. Hopefully they don’t abandon the actual character’s story lines too much. As for favorite characters, that would be Kurt (how can you not love him! haha) and Quinn.

Close runners up are Pretty Little Liars, America’s Next Top Model, and Top Chef. Ones that I love that aren’t on anymore are Heroes and The X-Files.

In other news, I should be going to the beach tomorrow with the rents and maybe a couple friends. I haven’t been to OCNJ yet this summer…and hopefully it won’t be too cold. Its been a bit chilly the past couple days, which I looooove (but not really for the beach! haha).

As far as my general taste in movies ago, I’m definitely attracted to psychological thrillers (e.g “Donnie Darko”, “Memento”, “Vanilla Sky”, or the more recent “Inception”). I like those confusing mind-bending ones where you have no idea whats going on till the end (or even after you finish the entire thing, which was the case when I watched “Mulholland Drive” haha). I also love musical-movies (“Across the Universe”, “Mamma Mia”, “Rent”)…because, well, music is awesome. Does it really need an explanation? lol. I also like a bunch of movies that don’t fit into those categories, but I won’t go on naming them all. Except for maybe “Little Miss Sunshine”, because that deserves a mention.

So I ended up ordering “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” last night off Amazon because I finished “This Is Where I Leave You” in Charlotte. It was a good book by the way. Very quick and entertaining read…I’d suggest it. Get this though…I only paid around $11 for the hardcover (originally $27) and I got free 2 day shipping with my free trial of Amazon Prime, which ended up being 1-day shipping because its supposed to be delivered today. Is Amazon awesome, or what? Apparently I need to get books through there more often. And basically everything else.

Day 1 is my favorite song. This is probably one of the hardest ones to think about because it usually changes based on whatever I like at the moment. Technically, according to I-Tunes, my most played song is “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha…but I surely don’t want that to be considered my favorite song. So I’m going to have to go with “Sleep” by Azure Ray…which is quite high on the list of all-time played. Close runner-up would be “I’m Only Happy When It Rains” by Garbage.

On to other news…I returned from my trip to Charlotte yesterday. It was a great time, and I don’t know how I’m going to go till December without seeing Shawn again. We spent a lot of time in the city and at his apartment (which has a pool!). We also walked a whole lot and ate a ton of delicious (albeit terribly fattening!) food. haha. We celebrated his birthday by going to Chima Brazilian Steakhouse on Saturday night. We also went to Coldstone on Sunday, and I discovered cheesecake ice-cream…which is basically heaven in food form. Its hard to believe that there are no holidays until Thanksgiving. Fall is coming up though…which is my favorite season. I still need to buy some Fall clothes for work (as well as boots). I’m debating on whether to get new Uggs. Both my Uggs and my black fancy-ish boots got ruined last year, so I need to replace at least one of them. I’m not sure. haha. Problem is I’ll only wear my Uggs on weekends, so is it really worth it? Hmm. I also don’t know if there are boots I’d actually wear to work…since I usually wear pants. Black boots are pretty standard to have though, since they go with so much.

Shawn and I are going to begin planning for our soon-to-be new apartment soon. He isn’t moving back till January, but might as well start thinking about it.

Actually, this is just a quick update to let you know that I have finally completed a new song. Is it one of the ones I’ve been working on for the past 7 months? Nahh of course not. This one I wrote completely in one sitting last night, recorded it, and uploaded it. If only they could all be like that, right? Meh.

The song is called “Wallflower” and you can give it a listen on either the music page or on my myspace. Its a little sloppy at parts and my singing (still) sucks, but I think it turned out pretty decent regardless. I’ve also posted the full tracklisting (on the music page) of whats to come as far as new songs go…when that will be, I have noo clue.

ETA: I’ve also added a small clip of “Dissipate” on the music page. I was pretty much just trying to test the mic, but figured I’d upload the clip so you can hear a little bit of it =)

My wireless mouse broke after a grand total of 2 months (not even). Thanks HP! I got a new one from Target today. It matches my computer and is by Microsoft…lets see if it can outlast my HP one.

I got a new book as well. I wanted to get “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” like I was mentioning in my last post, but its not in paperback yet and I can’t justify spending $25+ for a book that will take up too much room in my bag and weigh it down. I ended up getting “This is Where I Leave You” by Jonathan Topper. Has anyone read it? It looks alright.

I just finished “The Girl Who Played With Fire” by Stieg Larsson today. Once again, as with the first book in the trilogy, it started out super slow and boring and then picked up really rapidly after the middle to the point where I couldn’t put it down haha. Because of that I’m never sure what to think of his books because I always love the second half but am bored by the first half. At any rate, it ended rather abruptly because it pretty much directly continues into the next book, which is the last one in the trilogy…which I don’t have. meh. Might check out Border’s tomorrow but I have a feeling they’ll only have hardcover which I never get.

I’m going to Charlotte next week from Thurs – Mon for the Labor Day weekend holiday to see Shawn. Looking forward to that. I need to get a hold of little travel size containers to put lotions and shampoo and such in. Decided to just bring a carry-on this time because I don’t feel like giving them $50 of my money to check a bag.

I was awoken quite rudely at 7AM this morning by my sort-of-new neighbor’s chain saw. Apparently they’re installing new windows and/or doors (as evidenced by the “so-and-so’s windows and doors” truck outside our house). What I don’t understand is…this truck has been coming almost every day this week. I see them pulling up around 8AM when I leave for work. How friggin long does it take for one to install windows and doors? And why the need to start sawing various materials at 7AM on a Saturday, in the backyard, directly next to my window? I can’t say I’m a fan of the sound of screeching metal directly in my eardrum at any point during the day, but a weekend morning (3 hours before I would normally have gotten up) just makes it all the more annoying.

As a result, I’m very tired. I should workout soon but I’m not feeling it. Might have to force myself to later though…even if its just for a little bit. Or maybe I’ll just take a nap. Yea….that sounds good.

Its hard to believe its August already. This time last year I was in my last month of working at Temple, followed by those four months of stress-filled job hunting/sitting on my ass all day. It feels like so much longer ago though, and those four months are kind of a ramen-noodle-induced blur. What was I even doing? haha

I’ve been slacking on some things I should be working on. Mainly music-related things. I have all these songs that I need to finish and record but just haven’t felt like it. And of course I accidentally deleted all the little snippets of songs I had recorded on my keyboard (this is the second time I’ve done this) so who knows if I even remember most of what I had written. I’ve learned that if something is writing to the keyboard’s memory, do NOT try and press the power button…because for some reason it will delete the entire memory. I will try and get at least one song finished though. Theres no reason why I can’t do that! lol

I’ve really been loving the band The Pretty Reckless lately. Its with that chick from Gossip Girl…which I’ve never watched before so I have no idea of her acting abilities (or lack thereof), but she sure is talented as far as vocal ability and songwriting go. I was pretty surprised. Its been awhile since I’ve found a current band that I really like and would actually purchase a full album from. I was holding out hope for We Are The Fallen since they’re basically composed of ex-Evanescence members, but they weren’t as good as I was expecting. Not bad, but there really weren’t any songs on their album that I’d play on repeat or anything haha

A couple weeks ago, my digital camera (Canon Powershot SD1000) kicked the bucket. It was a sad. But after looking around, I’ve set my eyes on this one as a replacement. Its not the most recent Canon Powershot I don’t think, but I like it…and its pink of course! I will definitely get a case to go with it to protect it from the mass of junk in my bag, which was probably what contributed to the damage done to my current camera.

Ugh I’ve been getting headaches for like 3 weeks. Do not like.

Kind of belated, but hope everyone had a good 4th of July holiday! (if you celebrate it). I spent it in Brigantine Beach with Shawn and his family…was a fun time. I miss him though =(

Theres been some crazy heatwaves going on the past week. I think it went up to 103 one day. Ridiculous! I can’t wait for Fall to come. I feel like I did absolutely nothing this weekend, which I guess is true. All I really did yesterday was my laundry. haha. And today I don’t really have anything planned except for working out at some point. Very boring. I should really work on those 10 or so songs that I’ve been writing for like 5 months and haven’t finished. Someday.

I’ve been starting to read a bit more lately since I’m taking the train back from work everyday. I just finished Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs, and I’m planning to start The Girl Who Played With Fire on Monday. The first one was pretty good (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and I saw the movie on Netflix this week. The movie kept pretty close to the book (minus a couple things), so I’d recommend it if you like the book. They’re already remaking a Hollywood-ised version of it. Why do they always have to do that? Its like we’re incapable of watching foreign films or something. They’re doing/did the same thing with “Let The Right One In”, which didn’t have to be remade. Neither did “Death at a Funeral”. *lesigh*

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon. You’d think at my age I wouldn’t have any fear of the dentist anymore…but no, still not looking forward to it at all. haha

I still need to figure out how to get LJ crosspost working. grr.

I can’t believe I literally only have 2 days left in my apartment! There’s some things I’ll miss about it…other things, not so much (mainly the guy next door who likes to blast heavy metal at odd times during the day ). I’ll miss not having my own space. I’m already thinking about how I want to decorate my new apartment when I move out (who knows where and when that will be haha). Hopefully I don’t lose my mind at home. I need to look into saving up for a car so I can hang out with friends more and get out more often. I don’t know what kind of car I want, but definitely something very small. This weekend I’m moving out so I’ve been trying to pack little by little all week. All I have left to box up is the kitchen stuff, my clothes, and whatever is in the bathroom. I have a feeling this weekend is going to involve lots of physical labor.

I have to start taking pubic transit next week to get to work. Ughh. I’ll miss walking, even though it was uncomfortable when it was hot/cold, at least I was able to control the time I got in and not have to depend on someone else lol. I’m going to have to take the train with my mom Mon-Wed because my Septa pass doesn’t start till July and its easier for my mom to just buy train tickets. Unfortunately, she leaves for work really early and I’ll probably be at work wayy earlier than I have to be. I can’t leave later cause the train station is too far away to walk haha. After Wednesday, I’m going to try taking the bus to 69th street and then taking the subway to city hall (which is basically where my office building is). I’ll be able to leave later, so hopefully that will work out. I really hate buses though. From my experience, they’re pretty unreliable. Though maybe suburb buses are better than city buses…I don’t know. haha. Then I’ll just take the train back with my mom since she leaves around the same time I do.

Shawn is coming up to Philly next Thursday! Very excited! I took next Friday off. We’re going to his family’s beach house for the weekend and he’s heading back to Charlotte on Mon, so its not very long but at least I’ll get to see him.

Still having issues with LJ crosspost! (anyone else having problems?) It keeps telling me “invalid password” when I try to post. grrr. Also, still looking for a few more hostees! Email me if you’re interested!

So I ordered a new bathing suit last week (its this one in black) because Delia’s was having a free shipping sale. Hopefully it fits well. Its always a risk buying something online without trying it on lol

Did anyone see the new Lady Gaga vid for Alejandro? It isn’t bad, but not really what I was envisioning for the song haha. I always pictured like summer and beaches for that song (or something along the lines of what she did for the “Eh Eh Eh” video). I think I liked her older videos a lot more than her last couple ones. haha. They’re a bit too cinematic for me.

I called Comcast today to cancel my internet for the end of the month. It took longer to wait for an actual person to get on the line and all of 2 minutes to actually cancel it. I’m going to attempt to set up wireless on our network at home, but if its anything like what I had to go through to set it up here (aka an hour on the phone with customer service), then its going to be a major pain in the arse.

I’m having an issue with LJ crosspost. It used to work, then it didn’t, then it did again, and now I’m getting a “101: Invalid Passoword” error. Guess I’m going to have to manually crosspost? ugh.

Don’t have much else to say. Really tired.

We’re having a little barbeque for dinner tonight. Almost had to convince the parents to have one. I guess they’re not that into traditional things. haha.

I jogged twice this weekend on the treadmill. I hadn’t done that in a really long time (I hadn’t even worked out at all in a couple weeks)…so my legs are killing me now. ouch!

I’m pretty sure the wireless network at my apt is blocking my website’s server or something, because I can access it from work and from home. O well…I only have 1 more month so its not really that big of a deal. I’ll probably email myself blog entries at work to add when I’m there haha
